We’ve chosen to keep just the best passes to make it easier for customers to choose the right pass for them.

From 1 October 2019, there will only be 14 New Zealand Freestyle Passes to choose from and the following passes will be discontinued:

National

  • Short Maximus
  • Max
  • Max Hopper
  • Moe
  • Moe Hopper
  • Dave
  • Short Dave

North Island

  • Jerry
  • Jerry Hopper
  • Short Jill

South Island

  • Short Willy
  • Short Ron

Travellers who have already purchased these passes will still be able to travel on them, but they will no longer be for sale after 1 October.

New Names Stray NZ

To make it easier to remember which route a pass will cover, we've renamed our remaining passes to keep it simple!

Name Changes:

National

  • Maximus to Far & Wide
  • Short Max to Essentials
  • Short Moe to North to South

North Island

  • Jonah to Big North
  • Jill to Short North
  • Beach Hopper to Waves & Caves
  • Jack to Bay & Back
  • Patch to Far North

South Island

  • Ron to Big South
  • Willy to Short South
  • Short Q to Southern Circle
  • Stew to Southern Gems
  • Burt to Far South
The Everywhere Pass remains the Everywhere because, well, it goes everywhere!

Itinerary Updates Stray NZ

The route for the Stray New Zealand Freestyle network remains the same, except for one small change that affects the Waves & Caves and the Everywhere Passes only.

The Change: Raglan becomes a 2 night stop (previously a 1 night stop) and Mount Maunganui becomes an optional hop off point (previously an overnight stop).

Raglan and Mount Maunganui are part of the Waves & Caves route, which operates in Summer only from 8 October 2019 - 31 March 2020.
